Abstract

Phylogenetic analysis of 'Actinoalloteichus cyanogriseus' based on its 16S rDNA sequence confirmed that the organism belongs to the family Pseudonocardiaceae. It contains glutamic acid, alanine and meso-diaminopimelic acid as cell wall amino acids, and menaquinone 9 (H(4)). Its taxonomic characteristics differ from those of the previously described organisms of the family Pseudonocardiaceae. On the basis of these morphological, physiological, chemotaxonomic and phylogenetic analyses, a new genus, Actinoalloteichus, is proposed, along with a new species, namely Actinoalloteichus cyanogriseus sp. nov. The type strain is A. cyanogriseus IFO 14455(T) (=AS 4.1159(T)=JCM 6095(T)).
