Abstract

A detailed analysis was made of dsRNA molecules present in Agaricus bisporus (cultivated mushroom) affected and non-affected by La France disease occurring in The Netherlands. A specific pattern of 10 major dsRNA molecules was always associated with affected strains but non-affected strains also contained at least one of the dsRNAs. Cross-hybridization under stringent conditions showed that the dsRNAs were all unique.
